Limited release. Only two individually handcrafted malas are available in this design. Once both are claimed, this exact design will not be made again.

This handcrafted 108-bead ritual mala is created for warding, protection, banishing harmful influence, and guarding against unwanted attention or ill intent. Black nazar eye beads, obsidian, ebony wood, matte black glass, silver-colored accents, an ornate guru bead, an original freehand-burned concentric eye Seal, and a black tassel form a dark ritual tool centered on watchfulness, boundaries, and protection.

Move through the strand one bead at a time. Each of the 108 counting beads can accompany a prayer, petition, banishing statement, protective intention, mantra, name, or other repeated focus used in warding work.

The Work This Piece Supports

  • Warding and protective magic
  • Evil eye and nazar-related protective work
  • Turning away unwanted attention, envy, ill intent, and harmful influence
  • Protection against hostile or unwanted magical work
  • Establishing and reinforcing personal or magical boundaries
  • Banishing and clearing work
  • Protective prayer, petition, mantra, meditation, and repetitive magical practice

The 108-Bead Structure

This full mala contains 108 counting beads: 48 obsidian beads, 48 ebony wood beads, and 12 black nazar eye beads.

The obsidian includes 24 8mm beads and 24 6mm beads, creating shifts in scale and rhythm throughout the predominantly black strand. Ebony adds a subtle matte natural texture, while twelve black nazar beads establish recurring points of watchfulness through the full counting cycle.

Matte black glass seed beads create smaller divisions. Silver-colored seed beads and decorative metal spacers add definition against the black stone, wood, and glass. The strand meets beneath an ornate silver-colored metal guru bead, from which the wooden Seal and black tassel hang.

The Concentric Eye Seal

Beneath the guru bead hangs an individually freehand-burned wooden Seal bearing a simple concentric circle-and-center motif that echoes the eye imagery carried throughout the strand.

Eye imagery and concentric forms have long appeared in apotropaic traditions concerned with harmful attention and the evil eye. Here, the motif serves as a focal image of watchfulness, protection, and turning away unwanted influence.

The Seal is burned entirely freehand without tracing, engraving, laser equipment, or mechanical reproduction. Natural differences in line, burn, wood grain, and finish make each of the two malas individually distinct.

Sacred Materials

  • Black Nazar Eye Beads: eye-form amulets associated with protection against nazar, the harmful or envious gaze commonly described as the evil eye
  • Obsidian: commonly associated in contemporary magical practice with protection, grounding, boundaries, banishing, and deflecting unwanted influence
  • Ebony Wood: provides a dark natural foundation and visual grounding
  • Matte Black Glass Seed Beads: create subtle divisions, contrast, and rhythm
  • Silver-Colored Metal Accents: add brighter points of definition throughout the black construction
  • Metal Guru Bead: forms the central junction of the mala
  • Freehand-Burned Wooden Concentric Eye Seal: original artwork echoing the protective eye imagery carried throughout the strand
  • Black Tassel with Coordinated Bead Falls: continues the black and silver palette beneath the Seal
  • Black Nylon Cord

Structure and Symbolism

The 108-bead structure forms the mala's primary numerical foundation. Four major decorative silver-colored stations introduce a secondary current of 4, associated within my practice with banishing, clearing, stability, and establishing boundaries.

Twelve black nazar eyes recur throughout the strand, carrying imagery of watchfulness and protection through the full cycle of 108. Glossy obsidian, dark ebony, black glass, silver-colored metal, and eye beads create a deliberately restrained palette. At the center, the freehand-burned Seal gathers that imagery into a single protective focal point.

Working With Your Ritual Mala

Begin with the first counting bead beside the guru bead and move through the strand one bead at a time. Each bead may accompany a protective prayer, petition, banishing statement, mantra, name, boundary, or other repeated intention. Returning to the guru bead completes one cycle of 108.

Use the mala while establishing or reinforcing protections, during repetitive banishing or protective prayer, before entering environments where stronger personal boundaries are desired, or as part of regular ward maintenance. It may also be placed on an altar, incorporated into protective ritual work, worn, carried, or kept within a sacred space.

Dimensions

  • Counting beads: 108
  • Neck loop, measured along one side: approximately 17 inches
  • Full hanging length: approximately 22 inches

When worn, use mindfulness during activities where the mala may catch, swing freely, or repeatedly contact surrounding objects.

Handcrafted and Consecrated

Each Warding Ritual Mala was individually handcrafted and will be ritually blessed before leaving the studio.

Only two malas are available in this design. Once both have been claimed, this exact design will not be produced again. Small differences between the two pieces are expected due to natural materials, freehand artwork, and hand finishing. These variations are part of each mala's individual character.

Care and Notes

  • Handle with care to preserve the cord and beadwork.
  • The wooden Seal features entirely freehand-burned artwork.
  • Natural obsidian and ebony may vary in color, surface, grain, pattern, and finish.
  • Nazar eye beads and metal components may carry small individual variations.
  • Freehand-burned Seals will naturally differ slightly between the two available malas.
  • Wear over time is expected with natural materials. If the cord eventually gives under long-term use, this is considered part of the piece's natural lifecycle. Rebuilding services are available if you would like the piece restrung and returned to working condition.
  • Colors may vary slightly from photos or videos due to lighting and monitor settings.
