The Work

This Tree of Life design is completely freehand-burned onto a wooden light switch plate using pyrography, allowing the natural wood grain to become part of the finished artwork. The switch opening is incorporated into the design itself, forming the trunk of the tree while its branches and roots extend naturally across the surface.

The piece is finished with selective oak and walnut stain, then carefully hand-detailed to enhance the contrast between the tree, roots, and surrounding wood grain. A satin protective finish helps preserve the artwork while maintaining the warmth and character of the natural wood.

Representing growth, resilience, connection, and the relationship between the seen and the unseen, the Tree of Life has appeared across cultures and spiritual traditions for centuries.
