The Threshold Box | Spirit Communication

Made to order. Please allow up to two business weeks for completion. Each Threshold Box is individually handcrafted, so natural variation in wood grain, burn depth, stain, weathering, and surface character is part of the finished piece.

The Threshold Box is a handcrafted ritual vessel for spirit communication, work with the dead, petitions, session records, and practices centered on the boundary between the living and the unseen. Opening the box marks the beginning of the working. Closing the lid marks the connection as ended.

A Physical Beginning and End

Open the box deliberately at the beginning of a session and use the vessel as part of your working space while communication is underway. Petitions, written questions, names, automatic writing, recorded messages, photographs, session notes, or other materials may be placed inside.

When the working is complete, return any materials you wish to retain to the interior and close the lid. The closed box creates a clear physical boundary around the session, while the materials may remain enclosed until you intentionally open the connection again.

The Threshold Box does not prescribe a specific method, belief system, or tradition. It offers a tangible framework to incorporate into your own established practice.

The Hand-Burned Bind Rune

The lid bears an original contemporary bind rune created specifically for the Threshold Box. Its construction brings together historically attested Elder Futhark rune forms through a shared-stave, ligature-inspired design.

Within this contemporary magical interpretation, the component forms were selected around communication, passage, liminality, the living, the dead, and the boundary maintained between them. Mirrored and shared elements are intentional parts of the composition.

This is a modern magical design informed by historical rune forms. It is not presented as an ancient symbol, historical magical formula, or reconstruction of a documented historical practice.

The Eihwaz Ritual Spoon

The included acacia wood spoon bears a hand-burned Eihwaz (ᛇ), the Elder Futhark yew rune. In contemporary rune practice, Eihwaz is commonly associated with death and transformation, liminality, endurance, and passage between states.

Use the spoon with offerings, herbs, incense materials, earth, ashes, or other substances appropriate to your individual work.

Sealed Graveyard Earth

The small corked glass vial contains graveyard earth and is included as a physical focal point and material connection to the dead. The vial is sealed and intended to remain sealed. The earth is not a consumable ingredient and does not need to be poured out, scattered, or removed.

The sealed vial may remain with the box as an anchor within the working. Its color, shape, or style may vary from the example shown depending on available stock. The contents and intended purpose remain the same.

The piece shown in the photographs represents the overall design, construction, contents, and aesthetic of the Threshold Box you will receive. No two pieces will be identical. Variation in wood grain, knots, burn depth, line character, stain absorption, sanding, coloration, and the placement and intensity of weathered areas is expected and contributes to the aged character of each finished piece.

The glass vial depends on available stock, so its color, shape, and style may differ from the vial shown in product photography. Its sealed graveyard earth contents and purpose remain unchanged.

Care

Keep the box, spoon, instruction card, and sealed vial away from excessive moisture. Store the set in a dry environment and handle the glass vial with care.

The intentionally distressed finish may include uneven coloration, exposed grain, lighter sanded areas, darker staining, and other irregularities. These are deliberate characteristics of the design, not defects. Wood tones may also vary slightly between photographs, video, individual displays, and the finished piece.
