Made to order. Please allow up to two business weeks for completion. Fulfillment time may vary depending on order volume. Each piece is individually handcrafted and will carry natural variation in wood grain, stone patterning, bead placement, finish, and freehand burn linework. The guru bead pattern may vary slightly depending on available stock at the time of order.

A handcrafted 108-bead Ritual Mala created for magical practices centered upon protection, grounding, boundaries, and maintaining a strong and intentional personal space.

Built with natural wood, obsidian, silver glass seed beads, an ornate metal guru bead, an original hand-burned Protection Seal, and a black tassel, this piece adapts the traditional counting structure of the mala for contemporary magical practice.

Designed to be worked one bead at a time, the mala may be used to repeat a prayer, petition, mantra, affirmation, or focused intention through a complete cycle of 108 beads.

The Work This Piece Supports

  • Protection and shielding work
  • Establishing and reinforcing personal boundaries
  • Grounding and centering
  • Clearing and protective ritual
  • Maintaining focus during spiritual or magical work
  • Meditation, contemplation, and focused intention
  • Repetitive prayer, petition, mantra, or affirmation work

The 108-Bead Structure

The mala contains 108 counting beads, preserving the traditional numerical structure of a full mala while adapting its use to contemporary magical practice.

Twelve obsidian beads are positioned as distinct markers throughout the natural wood beads. Silver-colored glass seed beads and matte black glass seed beads separate the counting beads, creating rhythm and definition while allowing each bead to be worked individually.

The obsidian markers may be counted normally or used as places to pause, breathe, refocus, or reinforce the protective intention of the working.

The Protection Seal

Beneath the metal guru bead hangs an individually hand-burned wooden Seal bearing a pentacle.

The pentacle has a long history within Western esoteric and magical traditions and is widely used in contemporary magical practice as a symbol of protection, balance, and the elements held within an ordered whole.

The Seal is an original element of my Ritual Mala design and serves as the symbolic focal point for the intended magical current. It is not a traditional component of mala construction.

Each Seal is burned entirely freehand without tracing, engraving, laser equipment, or mechanical reproduction. Natural differences in linework, placement, proportions, wood grain, and burn character ensure that every Seal remains individually made.

Sacred Materials

  • Natural Wood: forms the primary body of the 108-bead strand, bringing warmth and an organic quality to the piece
  • Obsidian: widely associated in contemporary magical practice with protection, grounding, boundaries, shielding, and the clearing of unwanted influences
  • Silver and Matte Black Glass Seed Beads: create separation and visual rhythm between the counting beads
  • Metal Guru Bead: forms the traditional junction of the mala and transitions into the hanging focal elements
  • Hand-Burned Wooden Protection Seal: original freehand artwork featuring a pentacle
  • Black Tassel
  • Black Nylon Cord

Numerological Structure

Built around a foundation of 12, reflected through twelve obsidian marker beads distributed throughout the 108-bead strand.

Twelve carries longstanding associations with ordered systems, completeness, and recurring cycles, appearing in structures such as the twelve months of the year and divisions of the zodiac. Within this piece, that structure is used to create recurring points of grounding and protective focus throughout the full cycle of the mala.

The traditional 108 counting beads remain separate from this additional numerical structure.

Working With Your Ritual Mala

Begin with the first counting bead beside the guru bead and move through the strand one bead at a time. Each bead may accompany the repetition of a prayer, petition, mantra, affirmation, visualization, or focused intention.

The twelve obsidian markers may be worked like every other bead or treated as moments to pause, ground yourself, reaffirm your boundaries, or reinforce the protective intention of the working.

Upon returning to the guru bead, one complete cycle of 108 has been worked.

The mala may also be carried, worn, placed upon an altar, or kept within a sacred space when not actively being used.

Dimensions

  • Counting beads: 108
  • Natural wood beads: approximately 8mm
  • Obsidian marker beads: approximately 8mm
  • Full hanging length: approximately 30 inches

This is a long-form ritual piece. When worn, use mindfulness during activities where the mala may catch, swing freely, or repeatedly contact surrounding objects.

Handcrafted and Consecrated

Each Ritual Mala is individually handcrafted and ritually blessed before leaving my hands. While this design is recreated as part of an ongoing made-to-order collection, no two pieces will ever be completely identical due to natural variation in wood grain, obsidian appearance, bead placement, metal components, and freehand-burned detail.

Care and Notes

  • Handle with care to preserve the longevity of the cord and beadwork.
  • The Protection Seal is natural wood with entirely hand-burned artwork and should be treated as a handcrafted ritual component.
  • Natural wood and stone will vary in grain, coloration, patterning, and tone.
  • Wear over time is expected with natural materials. Should the cord eventually give under long-term use, this is considered part of the piece's natural lifecycle. Rebuilding services are available if you would like the piece restrung and returned to working condition.
  • Colors may vary slightly from photos or videos due to lighting, monitor settings, and natural variation in wood, stone, glass, and metal appearance, though I do my best to capture each piece as accurately as possible.
