Created within the current of memento mori, this handcrafted talisman brings together imagery of passing time, remembrance, mortality, and transition. Its freehand-burned wooden pendants, natural materials, and skeletal details create a striking ritual object for intentional work involving spirit communication, ancestral connection, liminal awareness, and rites of passage.

The Pendants

At the center rests a freehand-burned round hourglass pendant. A longstanding memento mori and vanitas symbol, the hourglass speaks to passing time, mortality, and the finite span of physical life. Here, it also marks movement between states and the threshold created by transition.

Above it hangs a freehand-burned oval pendant bearing an extinguished candle. Its remaining trail of smoke captures the moment after the flame has gone out, suggesting impermanence, remembrance, and what may remain beyond physical presence.

Suspended beneath is a black cameo skeletal pendant, bringing the memento mori current directly to the human body. Together, the pendants reflect remembrance, mortality, passage, transition, and communication across thresholds.

Numerological Structure

This piece is built around a foundation of 9, incorporated through intentional repetition and structural counts. Within the numerological system used in my own practice, nine carries associations with completion, endings, transformation, death, and passage from one cycle into another.

Handcrafted and Consecrated

This talisman is entirely one of a kind and will not be recreated in this exact form. Both wooden pendants were individually freehand-burned and finished by hand. Natural variation in linework, wood grain, burn depth, stone patterning, bone coloration, bead character, and surface finish is part of its individual identity.

Every talisman is consecrated through ritual preparation before leaving my hands.

Care and Notes

Handle with care to preserve the longevity of the cord and beadwork. Treat this as a handcrafted ritual object rather than a heavy-duty piece. Wear over time is expected with natural materials. Should the cord eventually give under long-term use, rebuilding services are available if you would like the piece restrung and returned to working condition.
