Throughout the Hellenistic world, arete represented the continual pursuit of one's highest potential, not as perfection, but as the lifelong refinement of character, wisdom, courage, and action.

Among those who came to embody this ideal most enduringly was Alexander III of Macedon. Educated by Aristotle and remembered for his extraordinary achievements, he became a lasting symbol of disciplined ambition, decisive action, and the pursuit of excellence that came to define the Hellenistic ideal of arete. The Pendant

The hand-burned wooden pendant features an open laurel wreath surrounding a suspended glazed ceramic bead. Throughout the ancient Greek world, wreaths of laurel and olive became enduring symbols of victory, honor, and excellence, awarded to those whose achievements reflected the pursuit of arete.

The suspended ceramic bead forms the still point within the wreath, representing unwavering purpose amid continual striving. Hanging beneath the pendant, the gold-colored lion's head reflects one of antiquity's enduring symbols of courage, sovereignty, and noble strength. Together, they create a talisman centered upon perseverance, worthy accomplishment, and the continual pursuit of excellence.

Handcrafted and Consecrated

This piece is entirely one of a kind and will not be recreated in this exact form. The pendant was individually hand-burned and finished by hand. Natural variation in wood grain, burn depth, linework, and surface character is part of its individual identity. Both the talisman and accompanying bracelet are ritually consecrated before leaving my hands.

Care and Notes

Handle with care to preserve the longevity of the cord and beadwork. Treat this as a handcrafted ritual object rather than heavy-duty jewelry. Wear over time is expected with natural materials. Should the cord eventually require replacement after years of use, restringing services are available.
