Rooted in the ancient Greek understanding of the primordial sea, this talisman is built upon the current of Thalassa, the living sea in its oldest form: vast, timeless, and ever-changing. Unlike later deities associated with dominion over the ocean, Thalassa is the sea itself. This piece carries the current of deep waters, ancient mysteries, intuition, transformation, and the enduring wisdom held within the tides.

The Pendant

At the center rests a hand-burned wooden pendant bearing a spiral shell motif, a form found throughout the natural world and along the shores of the sea. The spiral carries associations with cycles, movement, emergence, and the unfolding journey toward deeper understanding. Within this piece it serves as a symbol of the tides themselves, forever moving between the seen and unseen, the known and unknown.

Suspended beneath is a reconstituted howlite seahorse bead, linking the piece to the living creatures of the sea and the marine symbolism found throughout the ancient Mediterranean world. Together, these elements create a focal point centered upon flow, transformation, ancient wisdom, and the mysteries held within the depths.

Built around a foundation of 7 with a supporting current of 3 woven intentionally throughout.

This piece is entirely one of a kind and will not be recreated in this exact form. The pendant was individually hand-burned and detailed by hand. Natural variation in linework, wood grain, burn depth, shell patterning, and surface character is part of the piece's individual identity. Every talisman is consecrated through ritual preparation before leaving my hands.

Care and Notes

Handle with care to preserve the longevity of the cord and beadwork. Treat this as a handcrafted ritual object rather than a heavy-duty piece. Wear over time is expected with natural materials. Should the cord eventually give under long-term use, this is considered part of the piece's natural lifecycle. Rebuilding services are available if you would like the piece restrung and returned to working condition.
