One of a kind. This piece will not be recreated in this exact form.

Inspired by Oceanus, the primordial Titan and personification of the great river believed by the ancient Greeks to encircle the known world, this talisman draws upon hidden waters, ancient mysteries, liminal spaces, and the unseen currents that flow beneath the surface of the world. Rooted in the older concept of the World River, the boundary water from which rivers, springs, and life-giving waters were believed to emerge, this is not a piece of the open sea. It is something older and deeper.

This talisman is intended for those who walk between worlds, seek knowledge beneath the surface, or work within the liminal spaces where spirit, dream, intuition, and revelation intersect.

The Work This Piece Supports

  • Spirit communication and ancestral connection
  • Divination, omen work, and seeking hidden knowledge
  • Dreamwork, vision work, and trance practices
  • Exploration of liminal spaces and thresholds
  • Deepening intuition and spiritual perception
  • Rituals involving water, mystery, and revelation
  • Journeying, pathworking, and inner exploration
  • Workings centered on ancient wisdom and unseen currents

The Pendant

At the center rests a hand-burned wooden pendant bearing a stylized Greek meander pattern, a continuous path found throughout ancient Greek art, architecture, and pottery, associated with rivers, journeys, and the enduring flow of life. Within this talisman, it represents the winding course of the World River and the currents that connect what is known with what lies beyond.

Suspended beneath the pendant is an octopus charm integrated into the tassel structure. Long familiar to the peoples of the Mediterranean world, the octopus embodies intelligence, adaptability, hidden depths, and purposeful movement through complex environments. Here it serves as a guardian of mysteries and a symbol of what dwells beneath the visible surface.

Together, the meander and octopus form a working centered on hidden knowledge, ancient waters, and the mysteries found beyond familiar shores.

Sacred Materials

  • Glazed Ceramic Beads: inspired by the pottery traditions of the ancient Mediterranean world, representing the flowing waters, pathways, and enduring currents associated with Oceanus
  • Dark Sandalwood: spiritual depth, sacred wisdom, contemplation, and ritual focus
  • Hematite: grounding, stability, balance, and anchoring spiritual work
  • Silver Sheen Obsidian: hidden truths, insight, reflection, and the revelation of what lies beneath the surface
  • Matte Black and Aged Silver Glass Seed Beads: the meeting of darkness and illumination, mystery and discovery, the known and the unknown
  • Hand-Burned Meander Pendant: the World River, sacred pathways, continuity, thresholds, and interconnected currents
  • Octopus Charm: intelligence, hidden knowledge, adaptability, and the mysteries of deep waters
  • Black Tassel and Coordinated Bead Fall: grounding, completion, and the descent into deeper understanding

Numerological Structure

Built around a foundation of 7 and 3 through intentional repetition and spacing throughout the piece. Seven carries long associations with mystery, divination, spiritual insight, and the pursuit of hidden knowledge. Three connects with emergence, creation, and the unfolding of potential from a source. Together, they reinforce themes of revelation, exploration, wisdom, and connection to the ancient source currents embodied by Oceanus.

Ritual Applications

  • Worn during divination, dreamwork, or spirit communication
  • Used during meditation focused on hidden knowledge and intuition
  • Placed upon an altar during ancestral or liminal workings
  • Worked with when seeking guidance through periods of uncertainty or transition
  • Incorporated into rituals involving water symbolism, mystery, and revelation
  • Carried during spiritual exploration, pathworking, or journey work

Best suited for intentional use rather than casual daily wear due to its length and structure.

Dimensions

  • Neck loop (one side): approximately 20 inches
  • Full hanging length: approximately 28 inches

Handcrafted and Consecrated

This piece is entirely one of a kind and will not be recreated in this exact form. The pendant was individually hand-burned and detailed by hand; natural variation in linework, wood grain, burn depth, and surface character is part of the piece's individual identity. Every talisman is consecrated through ritual preparation before leaving my hands.

Care and Notes

Handle with care to preserve the longevity of the cord and beadwork. Treat this as a handcrafted ritual object rather than a heavy-duty piece. Wear over time is expected with natural materials. Should the cord eventually give under long-term use, this is considered part of the piece's natural lifecycle. Rebuilding services are available if you would like the piece restrung and returned to working condition.

Colors may vary slightly from photos or videos due to lighting and natural wood tone.
