A handcrafted pair of ritual candle holders created in honor of the warmth, abundance, and life-giving power of the midsummer sun. Built around themes of vitality, prosperity, growth, fulfillment, and solar blessing, these companion pieces bring together hand-burned imagery of sunflowers, wild grasses, grain stalks, and solar motifs in a celebration of the season's height.

Designed as a matched set, one holder emphasizes the flourishing energy of growth and expansion while the other reflects fulfillment, harvest, and the gathering of blessings earned through effort and time.

The Symbolism

Throughout history, the sun has been associated with vitality, illumination, success, confidence, and the energy that sustains life. The sunflower mirrors this symbolism through its continual orientation toward the sun and its long-standing associations with joy, loyalty, abundance, and growth.

The grain and wild grass imagery evokes harvest, prosperity, nourishment, and the rewards that come through patience and cultivation. Together these symbols create a visual current centered on flourishing, warmth, and the blessings of midsummer.

The removable charm assemblies feature citrine, gold-colored metal accents, honey-colored glass seed beads, and suspended sun-and-moon charms. Form and Structure

Built from turned wooden candle holder forms, each piece has been individually detailed through freehand woodburning. The imagery wraps around the body of each holder, creating movement and visual storytelling from every angle.

While designed as a complementary pair, each holder carries its own unique arrangement of symbols and burnwork, ensuring that no two viewing angles are exactly alike.

Craftsmanship

The burnwork was completed entirely by hand before layers of copper and gold metallic wax were applied to create depth, warmth, and shifting highlights throughout the surface. Unlike stained pieces, the natural wood remains visible beneath the finish, allowing the grain and texture to continue contributing to the overall appearance.

The metallic finish has been intentionally distressed and antiqued to create the appearance of a well-loved ritual object touched by time, sunlight, and use. This layered treatment allows darker undertones, burnwork details, and natural wood characteristics to remain visible beneath the warmer metallic highlights, creating a finish that shifts subtly depending on lighting and viewing angle.

The removable charm assemblies are composed of citrine, gold-colored metal beads, honey-colored glass seed beads, and metal sun-and-moon charms. The charms may be carefully removed or repositioned if desired, though excessive stretching should be avoided to preserve their long-term integrity. The entire pair has been sealed to protect both the burnwork and metallic finish.
