One of a kind. This piece will not be recreated in this exact form.

A handcrafted 108-bead Ritual Mala for dream recall, dream journaling, recurring-symbol work, and carrying impressions from the dream state into waking consciousness. Purple lepidolite, warm thuja wood, matte black glass seed beads, aged silver-colored accents, an ornate guru bead, an original freehand-burned Spiral Seal, and a vivid purple tassel come together in a ritual tool made for the passage between dreaming and remembrance.

Move through the strand one bead at a time. Each of the 108 counting beads can accompany a word, image, question, intention, mantra, petition, or repeated focus for dreamwork and recollection.

The Work This Piece Supports

  • Dream recall and attention to dreams upon waking
  • Dream journaling, reflection, and interpretation
  • Recognizing recurring dream imagery, symbols, places, and themes
  • Dream divination and magical work involving dreams
  • Preparing the mind before sleep for intentional dreamwork
  • Carrying remembered dream impressions into waking contemplation
  • Repetitive prayer, petition, mantra, meditation, and focused magical practice

The 108-Bead Structure

This mala contains 108 counting beads, preserving the traditional structure of a full mala. The strand is evenly divided between 54 lepidolite beads and 54 thuja wood beads, balancing richly colored stone with warm natural wood.

Matte black glass seed beads create subtle points of separation throughout the strand. Aged silver-colored seed beads and seven decorative silver-colored spacers establish larger visual stations. Within my practice, the number 7 is associated with Air, intuition, perception, and the movement of information beyond what is immediately apparent.

The counting strand meets beneath an ornate silver-colored metal guru bead, from which the wooden Spiral Seal and purple tassel hang.

The Spiral Seal

Beneath the guru bead hangs an individually freehand-burned wooden Seal bearing a single open spiral.

Within this piece, the spiral represents movement into the dream state and the return toward waking recollection. Its continuous path may be followed inward or outward, reflecting the movement between conscious awareness, dreaming, memory, and the attempt to carry what was encountered back across that boundary.

The mark's simplicity is intentional. Rather than assigning particular imagery to individual dreams or experiences, the open spiral provides a focal symbol for the process itself: entering, moving through, returning, and remembering.

The Seal is an original element of this Ritual Mala design, not a traditional component of mala construction. It was created entirely freehand without tracing, engraving, laser equipment, or mechanical reproduction.

Sacred Materials

  • Lepidolite: commonly associated in contemporary magical and metaphysical practice with dreams, sleep, inward reflection, intuition, emotional quiet, and transitions
  • Thuja Wood: provides a warm natural foundation and grounding visual counterpoint to the lepidolite
  • Matte Black Glass Seed Beads: create subtle separation, contrast, and rhythm
  • Aged Silver-Colored Seed Beads: provide small points of metallic detail throughout the construction
  • Seven Decorative Silver-Colored Spacers: form intentional stations and physically incorporate the piece's numerology of 7
  • Metal Guru Bead: forms the central junction of the mala
  • Freehand-Burned Wooden Spiral Seal: original artwork representing movement into dreaming and the return toward waking recollection
  • Purple Tassel with Coordinated Bead Falls: continues the purple, silver, black, wood, and lepidolite palette beneath the Seal
  • Black Nylon Cord

Structure and Symbolism

The 108-bead structure is the mala's primary numerical foundation, while the seven decorative silver-colored stations establish a secondary numerical current of 7.

The equal division of lepidolite and thuja creates a repeating movement between stone and wood throughout the counting strand. Purple lepidolite and the purple tassel establish the dominant color current, while natural thuja, aged silver-colored metal, and small matte black details provide warmth, structure, and contrast.

At the center hangs the Spiral Seal, returning the construction to the purpose for which the mala was created: moving into the landscape of dreams and carrying what can be remembered back into waking awareness.

Working With Your Ritual Mala

Begin with the first counting bead beside the guru bead and move through the strand one bead at a time. Each bead may accompany a word, intention, question, mantra, petition, or another repeated focus. Upon returning to the guru bead, one complete cycle of 108 has been worked.

For dream recall, work the mala before sleep with attention directed toward remembering what follows. Keep it nearby during sleep, or use it upon waking while holding and reconstructing dream imagery before it fades. It can also accompany dream journaling, meditation on a remembered dream, divination concerning dream imagery, or magical work centered on dreams and interpretation.

The mala may also be placed upon an altar, worn, or kept within a sacred space when not actively in use.

Dimensions

  • Counting beads: 108
  • Neck loop, measured along one side: approximately 20 inches
  • Full hanging length: approximately 25 inches

This is a long-form ritual piece. When worn, use mindfulness during activities where the mala may catch, swing freely, or repeatedly contact surrounding objects.

Handcrafted and Consecrated

This Ritual Mala was individually handcrafted and will be ritually blessed before leaving the studio. As a one-of-a-kind piece, this exact combination of materials, bead arrangement, metal components, tassel construction, and freehand artwork will not be recreated.

Care and Notes

  • Handle with care to preserve the longevity of the cord and beadwork.
  • The Spiral Seal is natural wood featuring entirely freehand-burned artwork.
  • Natural stone and wood carry individual variations in color, grain, pattern, and finish.
  • Lepidolite may display natural variations in purple tone, opacity, patterning, and inclusions.
  • Wear over time is expected with natural materials. Should the cord eventually give under long-term use, this is considered part of the piece's natural lifecycle. Rebuilding services are available if you would like the piece restrung and returned to working condition.
  • Colors may vary slightly from photos or videos due to lighting and monitor settings.
